the cause is found, the gray will be cured

Mas Yus Health. One of the problems inevitable in the elderly is gray, the hair turned white. Now that the cause is found, the natural color of human hair can be restored with drugs, so no need to use hair polish.

Through a series of experiments, the researchers from New York University found a protein that determines the hair coloring process. The protein called Wnt, which if the level is reduced, the natural color of human hair will fade.

By utilizing the technology of genetic engineering, a team of researchers led by Prof. Mayumi Ito successfully restore the function of Wnt and save your hair from graying. The trial was limited to mice, but the opportunity to develop in humans is believed to be very large.

Both in humans and mice hair, Wnt works by regulating the function of melanocytes to produce pigments or natural dyes to the hair. Whatever the color pigment is produced, if the color will fade to white or gray.

Not only had a role to maintain the natural color of hair, Wnt also stimulates the formation of hair follicles or glands. These glands are formed in the womb and some will die with age so the hair will tend to continue to thin out.

"It is widely known that follicular melanocytes and work synergistically, but only this time we know what factors govern the way they work," said Prof. Mayumi in a report in the journal Cell.

But in terms of gray hair, some people assessing Wnt is not the only factor that affects the appearance of gray hair. The use of hair care products that contain hydrogen peroxide can also cause hair color to fade faster.
