Coffee Slows Spread of Liver Disease

A total of 766 patients with liver disease (hepatitis C) were included in the study. They were asked researchers to consume coffee, green tea and black tea. During 4 years of study, patients were monitored every 3 months once the circumstances. Liver biopsy taken at month 18 and year to 3.5 to determine the progress of liver disease.
After completion of study, researchers concluded that patients who drank three cups of coffee each day could slow the spread of liver disease by 53 percent. Meanwhile, green tea and black tea just does not have any effect. The result of this discovery will be published in the Journal of Hepatology November.
"Providing coffee in patients with hepatitis C in large quantities it can extend the life of someone who already has chronic hepatitis C disease. However, other factors such as drugs are also very influential on the healing process,"said Neal Freedman from the U.S. National Cancer Institute,
Currently, hepatitis C virus or hepatitis-C virus (HCV) infects approximately 3 million Americans. The virus is grown without any malignant characteristics were detected, so often referred to as the silent killer. Based on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people had died each year.
In Indonesia alone there are an estimated 7 million people who suffer from this virus, but until now no vaccine that can prevent the transmission due to the nature of virus mutates very easily.
